Blue Planet Aquarium White Otters!

White/pale coloured S/c Otter cubs have cropped up somewhere else in the UK previously, I can't remember where it was though. Again it was part of a litter.

How lovely. I've never heard of this before (I wasn't aaaaaaaahhhhhhhing when I saw the pics honest!)

Will expect them soon to be splashing around in West Midlands Safari Park somewhere then! Can picture the enclosure name now, maybe something along the lines of kindom of the river ghost!:D (Sorry old joke i know!). I certainly havnt seen any white otters before though, very interesting.

just messing with threads, and found this one. Is there any follow-up to this? Did the otters stay white, are they still at the aquarium or gone elsewhere?

I've just been Googling. There's really not much beyond the initial 2010 news articles. This later article mentions the white cubs in passing (Baby otters win hearts at Blue Planet Aquarium).

Then I found the following article from the Bournemouth Aquarium (c.2013): Otter Parents Celebrate Their 3rd Birthdays! | Oceanarium Bournemouth
Stan the dad of our otters also celebrated his 3rd birthday earlier this year. Born in March 2010 at Blue Planet Aquarium in Chester, Stan made national news due to his unusual appearance when he arrived. He was born with an unusual white coat of fur!

Although as he grew and developed his adult coat darkened to the usual colour expected of oriental small clawed otters we still think he is just as special!

So they became just like all the other otters and everybody stopped commenting on them, but they all lived happily ever after....
