Spider Monkeys in Europe

Does anyone know what the status is of the different species of spider monkey in Europe? There are 3 EEPs (A. paniscus, A, hybridus, and A. fusciceps robustus) with the first appearing to have small populations and the third's population larger. There also appears to be some A. geoffroyi from several different origins around, and what I assume to be an almost extinct population of A. chamek. If anyone has more details or information about these populations, their history, and their current status, I would be curious to know. Thanks!

Zootierliste also mentions an Italian collection (Cartigliano) as holding the species, but I have no information on them. As you see, there is something of a male bias in the population.
The 3 females at GaiaZoo were imported from Guyana in 2006; as were some of the animals at La Vallée des Singes. I'm not aware of any more recent importations.

Paignton has 1.4 A.hybridus . According to old and new signs in the zoo they are:

Jean-Robert m, arrived from Zoo de Frejus in November 2010 aged about 15
Luna f, born in Stuttgart 6 August 2006, arrived in 2010
Lijuana f, born in Romagne 6 May 2005, arrived in 2010
Sophie f, born January 1988 (where?), arrived from Stuttgart in February 2014

Note : these are all numbers of animals mentioned on ISIS, it is well possible that more animals are/were kept at collections not working together with ISIS. For example, I saw a group of about 5 or 6 Yucatan spider monkey's at Merida Z00 ( Mexico ) in 2013 and these are not mentioned on the ISIS-list.

This makes a world-total of 1030 Spider monkeys world-wide in zoos which provided information to ISIS in 2009. Of these 56 were hybrids ( on species and sub-species level ).

Assuming that's meant to say 'Wight Zoo' I think this may solve my previous confusion on the Sandown Spider Monkeys.

The keepers confirmed that Ella and Tino were hybrids but I never got a clear answer on Jackson. Despite conflicting names all over the website (and other sources), the most apparent answer is that he's of the Chamek species.

This would make him the only Ateles Chamek in the UK? And the Isle of Wight Zoo the only UK holders?


I'd also be inclined to assume that Ike (from Dublin Zoo) is a hybrid aswell. Despite being displayed as the same species as Jackson.
