Has anyone visited the Canberra Reptile Zoo?

They got (some of?) the reptiles from Mogo Zoo, but the only ones I know are a Burmese Python named Titan (as of this article, which says they got seven reptiles total from Mogo: Canberra Reptile Zoo welcomes five-metre, 50kg python) and from another source I have seen they have a Rhinoceros Iguana named Crumble which must also have come from Mogo. What else did Mogo have in their now-closed reptile house?

The Canberra Reptile Zoo also had a Boa Constrictor prior to Mogo sending their reptiles there.

From a thread by CGSwans I found the inhabitants of Mogo's reptile house in 2014 (the year before they closed it), namely:

Boa Constrictor, Carpet Python, Burmese Python, Rhinoceros Iguana, Green Iguana, and Inland Bearded Dragon.

And he also named Green Tree Frog, White-lipped Tree Frog, Dyeing Poison Arrow Frog, and Splashback Poison Arrow Frog.

I'm not sure if all of these went to the Canberra Reptile Zoo or not.

I did have a look back through the Reptile Zoo's Facebook page and found a photo of an enclosure with six Boa Constrictors in it, but nothing else exotic other than the news article about the Burmese Python. It looks like a really good collection of native Australian reptiles though, including Arafura File Snakes which is neat.

I've been several times over the years, both with the current ownership (a collective effort by members of the Canberra Reptile Society I think) and the previous fellow. I met him when I was a teenager: looking back he strikes me as one of those oddball reptile keepers, but he knew what he was doing. Though with hindsight the mulga snake enclosure - a glass case which doubled as the front desk - was probably not the best.

My last visit would have been in late 2014, I think. I'm drawing a blank on seeing exotics there, but it's possible I've just forgotten. They had a specific locality of freshwater crocs that grow even smaller than normal freshies.

I think the only exotic they had in 2014 would have been one Boa Constrictor. Then the Mogo collection in 2015, maybe some others since then too but there's nothing useful on their website so I'm just going off their Facebook page.

Looks like a good place to visit though.

I was there last friday. The only exotics I can recall was a big burmese and a boa constrictor. It's not a bad place. Very kid friendly with employees walking around with lizards, snakes and freshwater crocs. Also a goanna that just walks around everyones feet. It looks like it may have started out as a pet shop thta specialised in reptiles that grew into a reptile collection. Not a bad place to spent an hour. My kids liked it.

Is this place in Gold Creek, or Kambah?

:p

the Reptile Zoo (i.e. the actual visitor facility) is at Gold Creek. Their reptile retail outlet is at Kambah, and they also have an aquarium/reptile shop at Queanbeyan.

Oh, they're expanding. Good on him.

It is normal practise for ZAA members to offer their surplus to other ZAA members before other zoos so it is likely that anything not at Canberra is with another ZAA zoo.
