When is the new shark building planned to be open?
Are they still aiming for 2016?
Nope, it's slated for 2018.

Are they planning on reopening/opening everything at the same time?
Also, does the aquarium have sea turtles? I saw Loggerhead and Hawksbill labeled but saw neither.

Does the aquarium no longer hold walrus? There have been some rotations at the Sea Cliffs exhibit. The walrus are gone, with signage removed and the overhead netting being removed. The California Sea Lions have moved into that exhibit. The old sea lion exhibit is now home to a large flock of brown pelicans (I saw at least 8). Not the most exciting species.
The Sharks exhibit's outside looks almost done and hopefully there will be no delays with its opening next summer. The next exhibit (once money allows) will either be the "Amazing Invertebrates" or the "Aqua Zone" kids area. The Sea Cliffs underwater viewing area will eventually be fully renovated and reopen, but I don't know how long that will take.
No, at this time Ocean Wonders and a new café will open. There will also be a boardwalk restaurant. The next three exhibits (World of Invertebrates, Sea Cliffs Lower Level and AquaZone Children's Area) will go under construction at a later date.
Not currently, not sure if it is planned to bring them back or not. There is a pretty limited population of walrus in collections in the US.Does the aquarium no longer hold walrus?

Mitik was sent to SeaWorld Texas, but isn’t now at SeaWorld California I believe.
As much as I'm saddened to hear the aquarium has lost one of its two star species (and one which afaik isn't kept anywhere else in the northeast US) I never liked them in that enclosure as it seemed very small.

What do you consider the star species besides walrus? Sea otters?
