@Charlie Simmomds My apologies for not reading the second half of your answer and repeating what you had already said :oops:

I have three answers next - all equally possible, I think. Great grey owl, Ural owl or northern hawk owl, they all nest so far north that they have to hunt during the day in summer as well as at night.

All three are wrong,unfortunately.
 
Sun Beetle - for obvious reasons and they may be nocturnal (I'm not sure if they are or not).
 
I figured a clue is in order to make this a bit easier.

The riddle is in reference to the animals colours as the colour of the sun at the colour of night.

not game related but does anybody know where the penguins are because of the renovation
