I posed that question on the website (plus also what location)!
answered on their Facebook when someone asked the same question:
"Some institutions participate in conservation breeding and have long-term roles to play in these animals' lives as babies are born and individuals grow old. We are playing a short-term role by creating a home for young males who are not ready to start families yet and are mostly solitary by nature."

Maned Wolf Pups Joy and Scarlett born at the Little Rock Zoo in September of 2016 debuted at the Woodland Park Zoo. Their male Vinny was sent to Fossil Rim for breeding.

...finally a word spoken on the state of reptiles, and amphiban left homeless. I found it very, very interesting with the disruption caused by the fire relocation actually was a blessing that caused several species into breeding mode! I'm always trying to educate folks on the importance of reptiles, and those motionless, "lazy creatures" are actually showing us something when we actually stop to look! ...thinking outside the box.
