Are the dusky pademelon moving in with the tree kangaroo when the enclosure is finished or not and also I read earlier that Chester are no longer part of the European studbook for Sumatran tigers, if so why is this

Yes the pademelons will be moving in with the tree kangaroos. Chester isn't breeding them anymore as Kirana and Kasarna's genes are too prevelant throughout Europe.

some info may be sensitive and unable to share

Yes but in PaleoMatt's defence some information is bound to be allowed in the public domain, possibly not exciting news but news none the less.

Disclaimer - I don't know what was said at the meeting either so if anyone can say anything then feel free to let me know! :p ;)

Edit - I cross-posted with the above.

I don't want to get our hopes too high but it could be anything from repainting benches to a pod of botos joining the collection lol.

gotillas are coming, in about 10 years

The redevelopment of the zoo will proceed as planned, for the next 5 years anyway.

The new penguin enclosure and the tree kangaroo/pademelon exhibit both open in the spring of 2018. The lemur walkthrough with a breeding group of ring-tailed lemurs will open in the Autumn, as will the fossa exhibit.

In 2020 the Asian lions will be moved to a new enclosure on undeveloped land north of the canal. The lions do not like building sites and the rehoming of them will allow the redvelopment of the maintenance yard as a retail and food area. This will possibly the first time that this section of the zoo has been open to the public since the 1940s. Red-vented cockatoos and Philippine spotted deer move to Islands.

2023 first phase of grasslands opens with giraffes, zebras, vultures and tortoises.

the giraffe, cattle and tropical houses will be demolishedand, work will begin on new accommodation for pygmy hippopotamus and western lowland gorilla, expected to arrive in 2024.
2026 New chimpanzee house, enclosure to remain where it is

2030 Elephant paddock built north of the house, on park of the land currently used as part of the car park.

The monorail is going in 2020. It is unreliable and costly to maintai. Furthurmore giraffes need to move to west zoo and they cannot pass under the track.

Lot's of interesting information there! The area for a new lion enclosure is the last place I would have expected to be honest. I thought the best place would be the current cheetah enclosure. I thought that area was going to be african themed to be honest but that will definitley provide space for an amazing lion enclosure.

Finally the cockatoos will be going on show!

Very excited for vultures, hopefully they aren't wing clipped and have a huge aviary.

Those 2 buildings are going finally. I guess this area will be used for all the Heart of Africa species. The end of the Tropical Realm will be an end of an era truely. Any news if a new one will be built? The new chimp house will be exciting!

A second elephant paddock would make the accomidaton world class.

The zoo isn't going for country specific zoning, instead going for habitat zones, which makes life A lot easier for the zoo

Kind of, but it is just called islands, so animals from any islands can be included technically
