As you guys may know,I went to Japan in 2016(sadly I didn't finish my trip review).This time, I'm starting my second trip to Japan!This time my target is the K-O-K area(Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe).I will have my trip on 2 months later,in February.I'm quite excited about this trip!

I need some information.I have already scroll through JAZA species list of mammals and birds.But I'm lazy to scroll through the whole list of species(especially fish and invertrabates).
Any rare species you would like me to photograph and share?

Zoos/aquariums I will visit:Kaiyukan,Tennoji Zoo, Kobe Animal Kingdom and either Kyoto Zoo or Kyoto Aquarium.

Zoos/aquariums I can't visit due to tight schedules and other issues:Suma Aquarium,Toba Aquarium

So tomorrow I will go to Japan! Final proposal include:
Kyoto Zoo,Kyoto Aquarium, Kobe animal kingdom, Osaka Tennoji Zoo, and Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium.
 
I really want to see the sun bears at Tennoji Zoo! Maazu and Maasa (Mars and Martha) are such a funny, odd couple! Have a great time! I miss Japan so much, one of my favourite places in the world!
 
Today i visit kyoto zoo and kyoto aquarium.
Kyoto zoo have some lifetick for me,but the zoo isnt big enough and animals lack of space.However, i can see some effort is done.They have some enrichment for the animals and not just a cage.Also, the primate exhibit is high enough.For a small zoo,i think it is just ok.
Kyoto aquarium is very small.As i'm not fond of fish,i only spend 1.5 hours there.There aren't huge tank and there are little non-fish species.I dont know if the fish is special,but i don't think it cost 2050yen if you dont especially like fish.

Tomorrow is a non-zoo day.I will go to kobe in valentine's day.

Seems that not much according to JAZA checklist. The fishes here are the same that you can find in any japanese aquarium - almost all are either common local species or commonly found in worldide aquariums. However it seems to be a special place for salamander lovers - with 13 species of Hynobius it have the most diverse representation of the genus for any Japanese aquarium, and they also have not only Japanese and Chinese giant salamanders but also the hybrid between both.
 
Yesterday i went to kaiyukan.World class aquarium, but the exhibit for large mammals(especially dolphins) is a bit small.Two whale shark is tge main highlight.However,there are only a few exhibit and the 8 floor aquarium consist of only a few tank that is view from different angle.
 
In valentine's day i went to kobe animal kingdom.Although some of its large mammal exhibit is small,and the fact that most of it is indoor,it provife me a lot of lifetick and include some rare animals.It is also a interactive zoo and there are a lot of petting and feeding area.I tried feeding a capybara.Overall,i enjoy kobe animal kingdom very much(oh, and they have 2 weird gray tall birds)

Did you saw the Aplomado falcon? It's the only Japanese zoo holding this magnific species... it would me my only lifetick in Kobe, appart from large japanese field mouse. What have been your lifeticks?
 
I dont think so.My lifetick include skunk,fishing cat,kea,peccary(i miss them in Ueno) and hyrax.
 
Today i went to tennoji.Old style zoo,some horrible exhibit,but at least i can see the kiwi,spectacled bear and drill.I am not a fan of this zoo, but the kiwi did amaze me.
 
Lots of chinese zoo have exhibit more worse for bear and big carnivore,but i agree that's very bad too.
 
I’ve only been to Shenzhen, and their bear exhibit was very much of the same standard, albeit much more overcrowded.
