Exotic Amphibians and Reptiles in Australian Zoos

No Wyndham didn't get them from Broome (don't think they ever had any). From what I was told & can remember, they were imported directly from Indonesia. Perth Z helped them with import, then got royally stiffed when Wyndham kept them all. Very unhappy situation.
 
I think the Alma Park reptiles listed here (American alligator, green iguana, common boa, Burmese python and corn snake) are all now at the newly-opened Queensland Zoo. The alligator is at least.
 
yeah I think zooboy28 needs to set aside some time to finish his list properly :p

Also, Adelaide now has its poison arrow frog display with three species.
 
Those three species are the
-dyeing poison dart frog
-splashback dart frog
and blue poison dart frog
 
Although of course Dyeing and Blue are two colour morphs of the same species (Dendrobates tinctrius). ;)
 
Alma park zoo no longer exists so you can get rid of all mentions of it, also the Queensland Zoo has American Alligators, boa constrictors, cornsnakes and Green Iguanas.

No they wouldn't be privately kept here, as it is illegal to keep any species of exotic Reptiles or amphibians (Apart from Axolotols).

Yes but they are illegaly kept, almost all exotic Reptiles and amphibians in Australian Zoos are confiscated, illegal pets.

This makes no sense. My first post said some species could be present in Australia in private hands, and your reply said they wouldn't as it is illegal. Now you are saying they are, but they are held illegally? So what is your point? That the listed species in my initial post could be privately held in Australia as they are known to have been in Australia in the recent past (hog-nosed snake excluded), but that it is illegal? So you agree with my initial post?

I also doubt that "almost all" exotic herps in Australian zoos are confiscated pets, certainly a few are but it wouldn't be the majority.

There are a very small number of exotic herps kept privately but legally under "grandfather" permits, where they cannot bred or traded. (OK a technical point) You are right about the confiscated pets, zoos will take something if they want it but how many boa constrictors can you exhibit?
 
Looking at this list and as a reptile owner made me wonder, what are the restrictions of reptiles/amphibians as pets? And if they are allowed what species?

Exotics are prohibited but a wide range of natives are available.
