Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Longleat Safari Park News 2018

The animals at Longleat are doing so well and the Winter season will soon be over and Spring is on it's way

WEATHER UPDATE - 2ND MARCH Unfortunately this morning and tomorrow which is Friday due to current weather conditions the decision was made to close the park

Just a quick one the safari drive through map looks to have a picture of a white tailed gnu on it. Have they now got this species or is it just a mistake I know they did/do have wildebeest

Only two possible sources in the UK -- Lake District WP (had two from Newquay), or Newquay itself.

That's interesting, wonder if they were what I saw in December (or if I did just see blues). Does anyone know when they arrived?

Just to clear things up, The house on Nicos island can’t be removed or changed as it’s a listed building much like the chimp house at Chester. No more great apes will be put on his island. And no female gorillas will be added to the bachelor group, some more young males will be brought in. Kesho is infertile so adding breeding females to his group would be pointless.

Oh and the wildebeests have just moved from the money drive through into the giraffe reserve so no new ones have been brought in.

Chester's chimp house is not listed. The long term plan is for it to get demolished.

But(one or other of) his brothers may not be...however I think keeping it as an all male group is a better idea as housing for surplus males is always needed, that's if the current group will accept strangers.
