The zoo posted info about their 2018 bird hatchlings and arrivals:

Two Marabou chicks under parents.

One Spot-billed pelican chick and one Emu being hand-reared.

2 Blue-naped Parrot (Tanygnathus lucionensis) chicks and 1 Green Woodhoopoe chick.

0,1 Madagascar Crested Ibis came from Mulhouse Zoo and 0,1 Lear's Macaw arrived from ?breeding station?.

Speaking of Lear's Macaw, do you know if there has been much progress on the new parrot house? When I was there in October '16 they had the basics built, but it was no-where near being finished. I can't see anything on the web regarding an opening date.

AFAIK It´s basically finished now, just some basic stuff left. E. g. they are waiting for the plants in exhibits grow enough so the parrots won´t destroy them on Day 1

Oh nice, thanks. Might be open this year then, I promised myself I'd return when it was open...
 
Nobody is a big fan of these kinds of questions, but I wonder if some of our Czech members might be able to put some estimated completion dates on upcoming developments.

The Parrot Complex
The New Gorilla House
The China Complex
The Arctic Complex

This article suggests the zoo would be ready for the pandas in 2021, but also suggests everything new will be in one pavilion, so....

Oh, I certainly am a fan of these questions, so my rough estimates would be:

Parrots: This one is tricky, the parrot house itself is done, pending some minor details...BUT, Zoo want´s to officialy open it with new australian exhibits and as far as my info goes, they didn´t even start to build them so far. Director confirmed that building process will start this year. So if they still want to open it together then it would be 2019 if not it I will be opened this year.

Gorillas: After long battle against City hall of Troja district, the construction will finally begin this year, so I guess opening in 2020 could be doable, maybe even late 2019

Arctic complex: If the Zoo has financial capacity to build two big pavillions at the same time, building could start as soon as next year, otherwise, the work will begin after finishing the Gorilla house, so the finishing date for me looks like it could be around 2022/3 at most

China complex: This depends entirely on finishing the polar bear exhibit (I doubt zoo would move polar bears out of the zoo just to start work on pandas earlier). So my estimate for pandas is 2025+

What about the birds in the old aviaries? Where will they go when the Australian Zone replaces them?

I´m not sure if this was even mentioned anywhere. My guess would be that part will go off-show and some species will be put in some of the present aviaries, replacing other species, but that is just a guess.
 
Does anyone know if any of the zoo's Borneo earless monitors are on display. Or all they all kept behind the scenes?

Last year there was an enclosure for them in the nocturnal part of the Indonesia house, I didn't see the there though...
 
The species was on-display when I visited in June 2017.

Good question.
In now outdated master plan there were some new aviaries for galliformes in back part of zoo (under planned arctic), so maybe even some new exposition? But I do not know that some new aviaries do it into new masterplan
Personally, I am more excited about things which should come (or maybe don´t :/) after pandas... Amazonia with harpias and manatees!
And don´t know someone more about new areal for cats? There should be some changes in cat house and its surrounding (but not before pandas and new gorilla house, so nothing certain, as with amazonia...)
 
Well, I do not know so much, so this are more my impresions than some official info, but...
Cat house is in the lower part of zoo, but not in lowest, as is gorilla house. Water shouldn´t be big problem there I think - giant salamander house is build that in case of flood, water shouldn´t get into it and make as big harm... and big cats house after last reconstructions may be the same case?
But maybe there is someone who can answer better (?)
 
Does the Prague zoo still keep oncillas?
I saw them in 2011, but not in 2016 and their enclosure was inhabited by hutias.
They are still listed on zootierliste though.

Also, does anyone know if the following species are on display or behind the scenes/not kept anymore?
If they are on display, where in the zoo could I find them?

I saw the oncillas in 2017 :) they were in the neighbouring enclosure to the hutias.

As for the species in the following list....

Some of these arrived *after* my visit in June 2017 (the Horned Lark and the Etruscan Shrew for a start) and I cannot recall for most of the others without rooting out my notes - but the New Guinea Bronzewing and Panay Cloud Rat are definitely offshow, and the Rubythroat is definitely onshow.
