5 best zoos in UK to visit

I didn't see any Blackbuck when I went the other day. There are no signs for them either so I think it's safe to say they are no more.

You're right, Pipaluk. I had been compiling the list for several hours and must have got muddled up.

Can you confirm they don't have the Blackbuck anymore?
Didn't see any. Several Sitatunga, single Red Deer, three Plains Zebras, and that was about it for non-domestic hoofstock. Pity, as its my nearest mainstream zoo and I'm very fond of Blackbuck.

I think there's a tame dark Fallow doe lives with the Red Deer too. Not surprised the Blackbuck are no more- for whatever reason, they were unlikely to thrive in a small paddock like that- too nervy -if not handraised.

I didn't see the Fallow -- on previous visits she has been pretty close to her Red Deer companion.

5 best zoos to visit is a lot different compared to 5 best in 7 days. If I were to choose 5 then it would have to be (no order) Chester, Whipsnade, Bristol, Paignton, Cotswold. The 5 I'd choose to visit in 7 days would be London, Whipsnade, Colchester, followed by a trip north for Chester with a stop en route at Dudley/Twycross/Hamerton+Linton or something along them lines.

I think it also depends on the method of transport. If you are willing to take internal flights then of course this will open up a lot more options. If you are dependent on train travel only, this could be more limiting.
