Zoologická Zahrada Jihlava ZOO Jihlava news

Finally! I didn't want to announce it prematurely as everyone was nervous what will happen.

Some more info: Born on April 14th to female imported from USA and it's probably a female
Really chuffed and good one on the Jihlava team!

I do hope the original female will also eventually follow suit!!!!!

Second babirusa born on Monday, mother is Ndari.

You mean yesterday? (21st May?) Wow, she really took her time, everybody was expecting it much sooner (and she pretty much acted like that as well). Hopefully everything will be ok this time, unlike her two previous births

A new species is on show - a young female Palawan leopard cat, from TP Berlin.

According to press release, current captive population in Europe is 6.6 animals.

Some Zoochat users may already know it (especially those who have a habit of scanning collections on zootierliste in search for collection updates :D ) but in February, 1.1 White-tailed antsangy arrived.

Also, Siberian flying squirrels (Pteromys volans) are now on show in the former raven aviary.

17 y.o. Babirusa female Johana was put to sleep last week (health reasons).

I will likely be visiting later this year, is there any chance of actually seeing them :p

Apparently, they can be seen early in the morning or in late afternoon. But so far, I had no time to verify that.
