I'm pretty sure that if you've already twice "incorrectly identified" a bird you "saw a while ago", then you can't be "100% sure" of its actual identity now. Best to just let it go - not everything needs to be given an ID, especially when it's a dodgy one.

While this is true I am almost certain that the bird I saw was a brown Goshawk so I will leave it at that.

I find that whenever I start thinking back of a species I wasn't 100% certain of in the field (and don't have any pictures of), it's very dangerously easy to appropriate various characteristics to such a sighting, and thus I never end up doing anything with them. Sometimes it's best to leave a bird unidentified.

If you have a picture which you just misidentified a few times but are now confident enough in seeing details you didn't see before, then that's an entirely different story...

This new vagrant bird definitely has a very good chance of being my favorite bird this year! Shrikes are definitely already some of my favorite birds, and this one is no exception. Unlike all other shrikes I've seen this one actually was very close to the road, meaning I got very good views and a few decent pictures!

BIRDS:
225) Woodchat shrike, Lanius senator

INVERTEBRATES:
27) Thatch tubic, Borkhausenia minutella

Birds
111. Wood Thrush Hylocichla mustelina

Some birds seen at school today:

Birds
112. Eastern Bluebird Sialia sialis
113. Eastern Kingbird Tyrannus tyrannus

Conveniently, the first one showed up when we were talking about bluebirds.

Think I'll start my list now, haven't really been too active until now:

Birds:

1) European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
2) Common Blackbird (Turdus merula)

Mammals:

1) Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

That's all I can remember off the top of my head at the moment. Expect this list to be updated frequently!
