There was a bird of prey I saw a while ago and twice I have incorrectly identified it, first as a pacific baza and secondly as a grey Goshawk. I rethought my identification and now I am 100% sure that number 38 on my bird list is a Brown Goshawk (Accipiter fasciatus).

I'm pretty sure that if you've already twice "incorrectly identified" a bird you "saw a while ago", then you can't be "100% sure" of its actual identity now. Best to just let it go - not everything needs to be given an ID, especially when it's a dodgy one.

While this is true I am almost certain that the bird I saw was a brown Goshawk so I will leave it at that.
 
I find that whenever I start thinking back of a species I wasn't 100% certain of in the field (and don't have any pictures of), it's very dangerously easy to appropriate various characteristics to such a sighting, and thus I never end up doing anything with them. Sometimes it's best to leave a bird unidentified.

If you have a picture which you just misidentified a few times but are now confident enough in seeing details you didn't see before, then that's an entirely different story...

This new vagrant bird definitely has a very good chance of being my favorite bird this year! Shrikes are definitely already some of my favorite birds, and this one is no exception. Unlike all other shrikes I've seen this one actually was very close to the road, meaning I got very good views and a few decent pictures!
