Chester Zoo Zoo Days

No, Sammy the male was brought in from Osaka Zoo, so his new calf is apparently very valuable due to the non-EEP genes.

Thanks Jimmy, a very expensive gamble that seems to have paid off:)

I think i got confused with the shape of Magadi's horn sweeping back like that reminded me of some pics i have seen of Sammy in an old annual report.

it`s all there, but indeed only available for UK users!! Does anyone know a way around this? I`d love to watch it.
the various NZ zoo series are all released as DVDs after their television run.....would that be the case for Zoo Days also?

the leaf cutter ants escape from their enclosure into the public area. The keepers and vets are trying to reinforce the barriers despite the soldier ants attacking
that sounds great!

Actually only 6 of 'the best' episodes were released on the dvd. Personally I wish they would have edited out all of the repetition of clips and released the entire series as one

Zoo Days is old news matey!
Ema is pregnant as we speak.

We as a community on this forum know that... the vast majority of the audience won't have...

Not to mention, the series will focus on the pregnancy as it develops.

episode 8 synopsis
- An African crowned crane is given antibiotics to heal a wound on it's leg
- the baby babirusa is let outside
- a livingstone's fruit bat needs more medication
- the cheetahs arrive and go into quarantine.

I missed the first 10 minutes, so I don't know what happened then

episode 9 synopsis
- Sibu, the Bornean orang-utan returns to the zoo
- Sheba, the elephant's sleeping patterns are examined
- Margaret the giraffe calf is ill
- Ema and Magadi, the black rhinos are left together
- The red river hogs are mixed with the yellow mongoose

I'm assuming that the mongoose/hog mix didn't work out in the end? this would've been shot a while ago and I haven't seen the hogs mixed on 6 visits since the summer...

A keeper told me in July the mongooses were going to be put with the red river hogs. I'm the third poster who has not seen them there.

i thought the mix worked really well? the active spritley mongooses served to emphasise the traditional image of the lazy fat warthogs

We're on about the apparent mix of the red river hogs and yellow mongoose, not the mix of warthogs and banded mongoose, which seems to be quite successful.
