The offer to take the giraffe from Copenhagen, was IMO more than a publicity stunt and they would have taken him! They have plenty of room .

Not to revive that old argument again, but if I recall correctly the problem was that Marius had been on the surplus list since his birth and YWP had previously rejected the opportunity to take him, only to put in a last-minute bid to take him once the media furore took hold.

I visited YWP today. Not much to report but Black & White Ruffed Lemurs have definitely now left the collection and moved to Ireland, apparently due to fighting with the Ring-Tails. The Red Bellied Lemurs are now settled in at Lemur Wood but were VERY high up in the trees today!

I glimpsed what will be the Brown Bear enclosure, hard to tell but it looks really impressive from a distance. There's already a path leading up to it and a raised walkway alongside, but this is currently blocked off.

This was the problem at Chester too which was why they were seperated. Is there anywhere which keeps these 2 species together peacefully or is this a collective issue with the 2 species?

Dudley do don't they?

I wouldn't know about Dudley but maybe?

It might have been Dudley, but I have been somewhere that would not let them out at the same time.

I've just had a look and their website def suggests they are in together (although the black lemurs have been moved into a seperate enclosure due to fighting so it is out of date) - but they may well limit their access to different times - I'm not sure:

Actually - I'm confident Woburn keep both alongside Red Fronted & Red Bellied - and I am sure I've seen them all out at the same time.

This is a weird case, seems to work in some places but not in others. There must be numerous factors for this.

Dudley definitely have both in their walkthrough - I don't ever remember seeing them near each other. The black and white ruffed lemurs seem to hang around at the higher end (and are very bold!) whereas the ring tails seem to stick to the bottom area. I couldn't say whether they are let out at the same time as each other, though.
