There was a lot of activity viewed from a distance today when we visited. Speaking to a few of the keepers they have settled really well, but they are allowing them to take things at their own pace. They are also having to slowly adapt them to the correct diet (they have been eating rice etc), but they do seem quite interested in meat at this point - all good signs.Brown bears kept in captivity for 17 years in Japan now safe in UK park

Whereabouts at the Park, are the Bears being moved to. Saw a overhead picture of the exhibit on the news article, but trying to picture where that could be? Also where are the Okapi kept, as they aren't on the Park map yet. Many thanks.
I think they will be moved to the 50 million expansion area at the other side of the wetlands. Part of the expansion is an Asian area with woodlandIf it’s the 4 wooded enclosures your talking about I believe it is the permanent enclosure for the ussuri bears. The 2.5 acre exhibit there in now is the rehab centre I believe
I'd have thought that area is no where near big enough by YWP's standards.I hope the woodland area is not for the bears, there is no lakes, pools, waterfalls, hills in the planning so not stimulating enough
Thank You Sand Cat
Have they announced what they are building between the Lemurs and The Painted Dogs yet ?
Funnily enough, I noticed a message earlier today on their facebook regarding a big announcement soon about new arrivals.I'm probably totally wrong but I did wonder if the animals destined for that area of the park may have gone to or be destined for the Ark zoo at Boston instead, as most of their animals are 'rescues'?

Maybe we shouldn't speculateDoes anyone know which zoo in Belgium Teva (amur leopard) has moved to?
