San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo News 2018

Three Canadian lynx cubs have arrived at the children's zoo to be trained as ambassador animals.
I posted a photo of one of them. They are adorable but not easy to photograph. Sorry, I just saw you have already commented on my photo.

San Diego Zoo Global has launched a book publishing venture, and San Diego Zoo Global Press has 5 books already and "more books are planned in coming years". A biography of the legendary Zoo Director Belle Benchley is forthcoming, and printing is handled by Southwest Publishing Group. The plan is for the zoo to publish 5-6 books per year.

San Diego Zoo enters the book publishing business

It's great to see that people still buy books, as this blurb from the article supports that theory:

"Overall demand has been strong enough that the first printing of 3,000 each has been followed by a second printing, for a total of 6,000 for each book. Each costs $14.95.

The two adult books are being printed in smaller quantities, of about 2,000 each. A quarter of the run goes to hardcover versions for $24.95, soft covers sell for $16."

I always thought their raptor row was quite nice - one of the best (if not the best) series of raptor exhibits I have seen. I even like the elevated boardwalk. I will be glad to see it reopen.

Thanks! Hoping they keep the condors and Harpies particularly. Fingers crossed for Ornate Hawk-Eagle...
I remember reading somewhere that they sent the old Harpy Eagle to the LA Zoo so they can get 2 new ones for breeding. I think it was from the thread on this website for LA Zoo news. Someone posts animal transaction documents the zoo does every month.

Is there anything that I should expect to see by January 2019? I'm visiting there on vacation at that time.
