Hello everyone, I've been debating making this topic and I finally decided to create it. The point of this topic is to review the facilities I visit as well as keep everyone updated with my species count, currently around 1,765+ species. I started keeping track of my species count last year while I was in Texas. So every time I update this thread with a new zoo, I'll have it split into two parts, the review (made up of my favorite exhibit, least favorite exhibit and any other notes), and species update. I'll start with my Dallas-Fort Worth Trip as it's when I officially started (note: the species count was at 1,196, I just started keeping track in order rather than alphabetically)
(another note: yes, I count subspecies)
Reviews
Fort Worth Zoo (9/10)
Favorite Exhibit: Museum of Living Art (a.k.a MOLA), the number of species here is incredible! It's like a mix of reptile/amphibian house, insect house as well as a few unexpected surprised or Texas Wild, mostly because I'm a big fan of local wildlife exhibits
Least Favorite: Parrot Paradise (I don't dislike it, I'm just not a fan of it), mostly because it's always busy and the birds are not a fan of cameras so I was unable to photograph any of them.
Notes: If you're a fan of reptiles and amphibians, I'd definitely recommend FWZ.
Dallas World Aquarium (9/10)
Favorite Exhibit: Orinoco, mostly because of the unusual species and interesting habitat design
Least Favorite Exhibit: South Africa (once again, I don't dislike it, I'm just not a fan of it), the penguin habitat needs some renovation, same with the hyrax habitat, but after a few edits, it could be great.
Notes: Stay in Orinoco until the sloths move, trust me, it's worth it!
Dallas Zoo (8.5/10)
Favorite Exhibit: Wilds of Africa, the best African based habitat (after SDZSP) that I've visited.
Least Favorite Exhibits: Tamarins, I love the species, but the habitats are a bit bland.
Note: Don't miss Bird's Landing, I missed it the first two times I visited!
