What species would you like to see figurines of?

Nice! Hoping to hit 200 standard figures by 2020 too, we'll see if I can! I have like 400 of the minis so haven't focused there much for a few years.
Interested to see what you have!

I have a few hundred mini animals, I only kept them because my mom gave them to me, and because they were the first animal figurines I got.

After this thread, I discovered that really, and surprisingly, there is a lot of species that never has been made into figurine!!! So, answering the original purpose of this thread, I would like to see (and get) the next ones, in CollectA/Schleich/Papo style (very accurate and more or less 1:20-1:25 scale). Hello Kakapo. You may be interested in this cassowary: Cassowary Toy Miniature Bird Replica

Thanks! It would be a nice addition to my collection because it's very accurate and have a perfect size (if I translated correctly the inches to cm), and it would be the first bird of my (very small) collection. I'm more interested in the page than in the figurine itself, because it looks like a source to get figurines of brands that are not for sale in the page where I use to buy. But looking into details, looks like that the page is based in Vancouver, so shipping costs would be prohibitive for me! I still lack many more easily available figurines (I'm not so rich for buying them all at once, hehe).

Thanks, Kakapo

I looked at various other websites, but I couldn't find any animals from your list.

Of course! I selected specifically for my list the animals that never have been made into figurine, as I explained above!

I agree, would love to see many of those made!

I actually have what is supposed to be a Binturong miniature, but it doesn't look like a Binturong in either shape or color... I'm not sure what it was based off of, but it sure wasn't a Binturong...

I just took a photo of my small collection: animal figurines | ZooChat

I don't collect them with any purpose - I just buy what I like the look of - so I don't care about scale or anything like that. I gave away a lot of my lesser ones which I didn't want any more.

The large and small Echidnas and the Leadbeater's Possum which I mentioned earlier in the thread can be seen in the photo (all in a row as it happens, although that was unintentional). The Thorny Devil and Giant Weta also mentioned are in there too.

Not all the animals are Schleich-type figurines. There's an Arapaima carved out of rubber (from Brazil) and a Komodo Dragon carved out of wood (from Komodo), as well as a few of the ones which come in pieces and you put together yourself (like in Yowie).

Curious, where did you get that Wobbegong? Looks nice!

All mine are bought in shops in New Zealand (some of them from shops in Australia). The Hammerhead and Frilled Shark are made by Safari Ltd. The Wobbegong is labelled as 2005 Schleich. It is a really nice model - about 11cm long (about 4.5 inches for you).

I will readily admit that the photos they use make their figurines look utterly dreadful (like bad cartoons), but the few I have are mostly extremely good. I have the Thorny Devil, Leadbeater's Possum, and both small and large Echidnas, and am happy with all of them. I also have the Giant Weta and Kiwi which are not much good, and the Tuatara which is okay. I have never seen their exotic animals so I can't say whether they are as bad as the photos make them look. They do seem to have a rather variable quality in terms of realism.
Funnily enough, regarding the above quote, when I took the photo of my figurines I realised that a lot of them look much worse in the photograph than in real life. I think your eyes process the image differently when it is a real item and when it is a photographic image.

I just had a look on the Schleich website and Wobbegong gets "no result" from their Search function. But there seem to be examples available via Ebay etc.

Thanks for the information! Looks like a few are still available here and there!

I find that tends to happen a lot in pictures I take and pictures on the Internet. When looking at figurines online I tend to look for several photos to get an idea. I think our eyes interpret the lighting and colors differently in real life vs photos, like you suggested.

You're talking about the Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) made by PlayVisions and mislabelled as "binturong"?

I didn't counted it as a species made into figurine, just because it's not a binturong, no way :P

Most, if not all, these species are done by various brand and are very easily available!!! I'm surprised that your wishlist includes all these commonly made species.
