Zoos that are better to visit in the winter?

A great zoo to visit during the winter time is the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago because, it's free and most of it's exhibits are indoors.

I had a very nice, but very cold day at Lincoln Park Zoo on Christmas Eve in 1996. There was almost no one else there!

I like to visit the Minnesota zoo in the wintertime. They have snow monkeys that will be active during the winter, they're jungle is indoors, and all their other exhibits are temperate themed. You can basically see everything at the zoo during the wintertime.
Plus, Their northern trail is beautiful In winter.:D

Yes. I've always said Minnesota is the only temperate zoo that it is better to visit in the winter.

There are a few in Europe I can think of (slightly dependent on how much you want to stretch the definition of temperate): Helsinki, Ranua, Orsa Bjornpark and maybe even Bern.

Along with the previously-mentioned Highland Wildlife Park, I imagine that Alpenzoo Innsbruck might also have a good case for this argument!

I've always enjoyed Exmoor in the winter - the site seems especially pretty on a misty winters day. I've always been lucky with photography on days like this too!

I like visiting London on a crisp winter's day. When it's cold, the tourists tend to go to other, warmer places like the museums, so the zoo is relatively quiet, and mostly populated by Members. The end of such a day is always especially quiet, and some of my favourite times to be there.

Smithsonian National Zoo (my home zoo) is great to visit in the winter. The mild winter climate of DC means that most, if not all of the animals will be out. There are also many colder weather animals (especially those on the America Trail) that become more active. If it is too cold, we do have a lot of indoor exhibits.

Bronx Zoo is also good for the winter, as many of their exhibits are indoors and many of their outdoor animals will be out if it is cold. I was there last Saturday when it was snowing and it was still open (only the African Megafauna and some of the other warm-weather outdoor animals weren't on exhibit).
