Any Zoos you plan on visiting next year?

Waikiki Aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo (still kind of on the fence about the latter tho)

I'm hoping for a few big trips in 2019 - only the first has been developed at all, spending time in several African countries early in the year. :)

Ohhh boy! My most untouched continent!! What countries?? Species targets??

I should be heading to Portugal with Iberian lynx envy, the Netherlands and cologne and Ireland for a large headed macaque.

Doing any wildlife watching in Hawaii? Many of us would be super jealous if you see species like Iiwi, Palila, or Omao.

My understanding is you have to go to very, very specific spots to have any chance of seeing most Hawaiian passerines and since those spots are in the more touristy areas, it's kind of difficult, expensive, and time consuming. If I were to go to Hawaii I'd 100% make sure I could do ths, but it doesn't sound like @Ebirah766 is going to have a very comprehensive trip there unfortunately.

I have a modest list:

- Paignton and Blackpool are a guarentee as I have interviews at both for internships.
- I expect I'll do a joint Shepreth and Linton Trip.
- From uni, probably Hamerton, YWP and Twycross.
- Wildplace and Noah's Ark due to their closeness to home (maybe Bristol too).
- Flamingo Land for the ABWAK symposium.
- Maybe Manchester Zoo if some building work starts this year ;)
Otherwise... I'm not yet sure :)

Good luck with both your interviews

I do know for sure that I'm heading to Cincinnati (as always), but a hoping for a trip to Columbus (haven't been in years!) and Cleveland if I'm heading up there to see my aunt. I also will try for Louisville, some Tennessee zoos, Indianapolis, and Virginia Zoo. Aquariums I want to go to this year are the Newport Aquarium, along with the Virginia Aquarium. The only other institution on my list is the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery (not very big, it does have a small animal collection, and is AZA accredited).

Best of luck!

When I visited the UK in 2016 I combined Linton and Hamerton quite comfortably in a day. I originally planned to do Shepreth that day as well, but decided to sleep in a bit instead since there wasn't much there for me.

Thank you!

Having been to Hamerton before, I just thought it made sense to tick off two new collections in a day

When I go over that way, I tend to do Linton and Shepreth in one day (including the lemurs experience at Linton!) Then I stay at the Premier Inn that is about 15 mins from Hamerton, and visit there the next day. Makes for a nice little short break, and the Premier Inn is ridiculously cheap.

Lots hopefully!

First up is my trip to Tokyo (it's amazing how many significant collections there are in and around the city).

Then I will be travelling in North China (not too many noteworthy zoos but not zero either).

Summer should see a European trip, of currently undetermined scope, but Belgium looks very, very likely.

Finally I hope to get some UK zoos in as well.
