It is your opinion on what is rare. With hundreds of zoos in the US, should common really be 20+?
Very good job though. It would be even better if the collections that hold rare species were listed.
If someone wants to access it without having to send an email to @drill , this link should work:
Animals In US Zoos
Thanks. Just added greater hedgehog tenrec and Victoria koala. Goodfellow's tree-kangaroo definitely gone?Just a note, Bredl’s Python and Centralian Carpet Python are the same species.![]()
Yes.Thanks. Just added greater hedgehog tenrec and Victoria koala. Goodfellow's tree-kangaroo definitely gone?
Off the top of my head, I know of at least 15:The Thomson’s gazelle is listed as Common, does anyone have a list of all the zoos that hold them please, can’t think of more than ten (Bronx, San Diego ect..)
I think you are able to edit the document. You are right. There will be 17 or 18 collections with the species, after a safari park in Mississippi opens. This is according to the AZA TAG program with ungulates which lists 189 Thompson gazelles in 14 AZA Zoos and 2 non. My home Zoo, Metro Richmond recently received some which they might not count.Off the top of my head, I know of at least 15:
Audubon
Baton Rouge
Bright's
Bronx
Cincinnati
Columbus
Dallas
Disney
Louisiana Purchase Gardens
Milwaukee
North Carolina
Peoria
Phoenix
San Diego Zoo Safari Park
Wildlife World
Whether I would consider that common or not, I don't know.
I'm certain Franklin's gull is on there. Thanks for the updates on the grebe and tigers. You can add those others, though they should already be there, because I have visited all the collections you named. Hemker Park Zoo, I believe exhibits tur.A couple things:
Tiny Screaming Hairy Armadillos is missing (I know it's kept at Brookfield).
The "Indochinese Tigers" in the US are actually Malayan Tigers.
Kodiak Bear is missing. (Kept at Wildwood Zoo, Toledo, Alaska, and Space Farms)
West Caucasian Tur is only kept by Racine.
Pied-Billed Grebe is no longer kept at Brookfield.
Franklin's Gull is missing. (Kept at Bay Beach).
That's just what I noticed right away. Do you want me to edit these?
Photo Ark is outdated.According to The Photo Ark, it looks like Lincoln Children's Zoo keeps Long-Haired Rousette as well.
Fixed it for you.
You're right about Hemker Park Zoo. I am very surprised, considering I have been told several times that Racine is the only holder.I'm certain Franklin's gull is on there. Thanks for the updates on the grebe and tigers. You can add those others, though they should already be there, because I have visited all the collections you named.
