Any Zoos you plan on visiting next year?

How north exactly? I suppose Beijing/Tianjin?

Qingdao - Harbin - Beijing - Xi'an

Zoo list will probably be:
Yantai Aquarium (Whale sharks)
Weihai Zoo (super weird)
Beijing Zoo (third visit - probably I wouldn't bother if it weren't for the Global Challenge)

If I can get there I have read something good about Shenyang Forest Zoo, but it's a question of logistics as it's off my track a bit.

And that's it. I'm kind of at a point where I probably won't visit random zoos in China anymore because the expected return is low. Not because they are bad necessarily, but they get very samey.

I know I'm for sure visiting Zoo Knoxville and Potter Park, both of which are new facilities for me. I'll also probably be revisiting Milwaukee this summer. And assuming my summer travel plans fall into place I'll get to go to the Oregon Zoo, Woodland Park, Roger Williams, Franklin Park, and the New England Aquarium.

This year I want to go on a dedicated week long zoo trip. Most likely in early spring. I want to go east to Sedgwick County, then south to Oklahoma City, Dallas, DWA, and Ft. Worth. Unfortunately I can’t take too much time off work and all those can easily be made in a round trip from CO.

I don’t know if I will be able to but these are the ones I am going to try to go to .
National zoo
Bronx Zoo
Philadelphia Zoo
Baltimore Zoo
Turtle back Zoo
Brandywine Zoo
Franklin Park Zoo
Beardsley Zoo
Roger Williams Park Zoo

If I get to go to one outside the U.S I would like to go to the Toronto Zoo

At some point I would like go to some European zoos just not sure when that will happen

Oh great! What Zoos would you like to visit here in the UK?

The main one I would like to tick off would be YWP. Your comment suggests you don't know I'm from the UK? I've done most of the major British zoos, apart from hard to get to ones like HWP or Jersey. Another would be Blackpool, but I'll not be rushing to get there. Revisits to Chester and Colchester will also be high on the agenda.

I wasn't aware, my apologies !

A few of you wished me luck earlier in the year on this thread in regards to some interviews - You may like to know that I was successful in gaining a Zoo Research Placement at Paignton that I will start in September.

The placement is 10-12 months long, and I could end up working with a huge range of species whilst there.

I shall keep you all updated if you'd like :)

Congratulations on your placement!

A word of advice, though: I'd keep the details of your job there more or less to yourself. The forum doesn't always have the best reputation with zoos themselves, some of whom actively watch the forum to make sure we're not causing them any further headaches. I know a couple of people who have gotten in trouble with their employer due to their presence on this site, so I'd suggest working hard and not posting any info. you're told while on the job. Best of luck! :)

Apart from the usual suspect (ZSL London, repeatedly), I do hope to make it to Birmingham Nature Centre and Dudley this year. Haven't been to either of those, and they're just about do-able in a day from where I live. In dream-world I'd love to revisit Cologne and Duisburg, but they're a long shot. Have got the possibility of a trip to South Africa later in the year, which if it happens I would love to get to some of the collections in KwaZulu-Natal (along with obligatory safari).

Thank you for your words of advice - I already had this in mind, as I am aware of some previous issues - but thank you none the less.

I only plan on sharing info that any member of the public could find out, no more. I may just be quicker to the Paignton thread than others.

My basic is "Going Everywhere Where Will Be Young Small Cats Species" to take photos and observe behaviour - it's a tradition and is getting better with every year :P.

I hope to travel more around Czech Republic, especially Ostrava, Prague and Jihlava. I'm thinking about Zlin, because I haven't seen yet. And Zoofanatika in Bratislawa is on the horizon!

My dream zoos to do this year are Le Parc des Felins, Hamerton, Lisbon (or Madrid - for the iberian lynx) and Heidelberg for Asian golden cat.
I think that at the end I will be in completely different zoos and I'm curious what life will bring, aye.

Go to Madrid if you want to actually see the Lynx, sightings there are basically guaranteed, whereas in Lisbon you have to be lucky....
