I visited the Virginia Zoo on my recent trip to Virginia Beach (I visited the aquarium on my May-June Trip, this was my August Trip). This is what I saw.
ZooFarm
African Crested Porcupine
Patagonian Cavy
Java Peafowl
Screaming Hairy Armadillo
Northern Tree Shrew
Binturong
Kenyan Crested Guineafowl
Kunekune Pig
Huacaya Alpaca
Zebu
Southdown Babydoll Sheep
Black-Tailed Prairie Dog
Nigerian Dwarf Goat
Dexter Cattle
------------------------------------
A very nice farm area, with rustic enclosures, none of them were actually poor exhibits. The Patagonian Cavy and the three indoor small mammal exhibits weren't naturalistic, but they looked adequate, had a lot of enrichment, and were accommodated to fit the animal's needs, so I think they were overall very nice. But there was some confusion, on the website it states that there are Demoiselle Cranes and Crested Screamers, although I could not find them anywhere in the farm (not even any signage!) , are they switched on and off with some other animals?

The new World of Reptiles! opened on June 4th, 2018 (on my May/June trip but I wasn't able to make it to the zoo). Anyways, this species list is by no means a species list with all the species on exhibit, a majority of this list was on exhibit, but there were a few that weren't on exhibit but still had signage. A very modern and amazing building, the Crocodile Marsh was my absolute favorite (my little cousin had started calling me her pet crocodile a few days before that, so that made me more interested in the Siamese Crocodiles), though the Venomous Gallery and the Monitor Forest follow closely behind. In fact, I even saw two Red Pygmy Rattlesnakes that were mating right in front of the window!Os
-----------------------------
North America
American Bison
Bald Eagle
---------------------------
I really liked the yard for the bison, it was well landscaped! The Bald Eagle exhibit looked like a picnic shed that was overgrown with a yard around it, very well planted!
--------------------------
Australia Walkabout
Bennett's Wallaby
Eastern Grey Kangaroo
Emu
Southern Cassowary
-----------------------------------
A nice exhibit! So I actually thought that cassowaries were actually in the walkabout (what a relief that they were fenced off to one side (inaccessible to zoogoers) ).
----------------------------------
Africa-Okavango Delta
Aldabra Tortoise
Hartmann's Mountain Zebra
Watusi Cattle
Southern Ground Hornbill
Red River Hog
Ostrich

African Lion
Pancake Tortoise
Egyptian Uromastyx
Painted Agama
Fennec Fox
Meller's Chameleon
Radiated Tortoise
White-Throated Monitor
Rock Hyrax
Meerkat
----------------------------------
An amazing precinct! Many beautiful and large exhibits! Just amazing! I also fell in love with the Stanley Crane, which is now my favorite crane species!
---------------------------------
Asia-Trail of the Tiger
Malayan Tiger
White-Cheeked Gibbon
Asian Small-Clawed Otter
Asiatic Black Bear

Red Imperial Pigeon
Finch-Billed Bulbul
Crested Wood Partridge
Fairy Blue Bird
Nicobar Pigeon
Siamang
Malayan Sun Bear
------------------------------------
My favorite part of the zoo! Not only was everything spacious and beautiful, but there was a temple foot-washing basin that felt really good on a hot day (it also softened my feet and made the walking easier)!
------------------------------------
ZooLive! Show
Lesser Hedgehog Tenrec
African Pygmy Hedgehog
Prehensile-Tailed Porcupine
----------------------------------------
A nice show, but there was this little annoying girl (8-9ish) that kept talking up about her little pet hedgehog, and she also talked trash about the European Hedgehog (my favorite hedgehog, it really pissed me off)!
----------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A very good zoo, there were no bad exhibits, every exhibit was adequate or better for it's inhabitants. This was an amazing zoo, very beautiful planted paths (but not near as good as Cincinnati's plant aesthetics), the place was aesthetically pleasing! This has got to be one of my favorite zoos!
