Yesterday Central African chimp female Brigitte was send to Zoo Plzen. She was the only animal of this rare subspecies at Walter Zoo and will be paired with the animals of the same sub-species at Plzen .

Recently 3 meerkats were born.

Last week the aviary at the entrance has been renovated, this aviary is home to multiple
Sun parakeets (Aratinga solstitialis), Ringed teals (Callonetta leucophrys) and 2 Blue-and-yellow macaws (Ara ararauna) which used to live in the reptile house.

Recently the new inhabitants arrived, but are currently kept behind the scences until their new enclosure is finished.
Two red Nepalese red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) came from Opel Zoo.
The Asian small-clawed otters (Aonyx cinerea) came from Zoo Dortmund and Tierpark Hagenbeck. Both are new species for the zoo!

4 days ago their enclosure was opened!

Recently a Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda) was born, is this a zoo first breeding for Walter Zoo? According to ZTL they have had this species since 2017 and the instagram post mentions that this is the first birth for this breeding pair.

Recently the pair of South African ostriches (Struthio camelus australis) were send to Parco Zoo Punta Verde (Italy), they were also the last South African ostriches in the zoo. Walter Zoo hopes to increase its zebra herd hence the depature of this species, they hope to welcome this species again in the future.

Last month a male Linnaeus' two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) arrived at the zoo.

In June a Pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) was born, I am not sure whether this is a zoo first breeding for Walter Zoo.

In June 2 Patagonian maras (Dolichotis patagonum) were born.

Recently 5-year old female Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) Yeva was send to Zoo Safari de Peaugres.

Recently alteast 3 Ringed teals (Callonetta leucophrys) hatched.
