ZooChat Big Year 2019

I saw it in a park near Arnhem, which I think you could see as the east side of the country, but not the far east, it's more near the centre.

There is a small population of familiaris just north of Arnhem (in the Rozendaalse Bos), so if you saw it roughly in that area it could be both species.

There is a small population of familiaris just north of Arnhem (in the Rozendaalse Bos), so if you saw it roughly in that area it could be both species.

The place I saw the bird is south from this location, so I doubt I saw a idividual from this population, I saw the bird in question in the Immerloo park, I've tried to look on eBird on this location, however I couldn't find anything about it, no sightings or whatsoever.

I'm now in the night train from Northern Vietnam to Central Vietnam, so I figured I'd update with the things I've seen... Herps and inverts will come when I'm home! :D

10) Swinhoe's squirrel, Tamiops swinhoei
The Tamiops at Cuc Phuong are maritimus.

Swinhoe's Striped Squirrels are only found in the very far north of Vietnam (they are basically a Chinese species, with the distribution only skirting the borders of Vietnam, Burma, India, and Tibet), and where they do co-exist with other Tamiops species they tend to be separated by altitude.

Since my last update back in late February I have managed to add only three new birds, one new mammal and three invertebrates. The mammal and the first two invertebrates were all seen in the grounds of Colchester Zoo:

Heading off for a two-day visit to Minsmere tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be have swelled my list somewhat by Thursday evening.

Just got back from my Minsmere trip - managed to add sixteen new birds for the year list (one a very pleasant flyover from a new bird for my British list, albeit seen twice before on the continent); I also found one new invertebrate while briefly stopped on the way home:

192. Singing honeyeater Gavicalis virescens

193. Laughing dove Streptopelia capicola

I don't take a lot of notice of invertebrates but if something takes my fancy I record it:

1. Smooth marron Cherax cainii
