I passed going to the aviary tomorrow and now I see they have cock-of-the-rock and capuchinbirds! Perhaps I'll have to go the following weekend!

Andean condors at National Aviary await first chick to hatch in 10 years
Hey guys. I’m going to the National Aviary this coming Saturday for the first time since 2006, and I was hoping you guys could give me some advice or pointers so that I have the best possible experience. I have a timed ticket entry scheduled for 1:45 PM and I also have a hawk encounter scheduled for 2:00 PM. I will definitely also participate in one of the feedings if possible.
Anyways, my biggest concern is the layout of the facility. The map on their website makes it somewhat more easier to navigate around the building, but it still looks kind of confusing. Anyways, I would greatly appreciate it if someone who’s familiar with the layout of the facility could give advice on the best path to take. I have absolutely no problem at all navigating, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, I have the layout and path memorized by heart, but the aviary seems a little more confusing and I don’t really remember my 2006 trip that well.
The actual layout is pretty similar to the map layout. The entrance of Condor Court is the only area not along the main hallways. Everything else is pretty straight forward. The back entrance/gift shop is closed because of the construction of the new event space. I hope this helps.
Thank you.
1. It does help. How am I supposed to get to Condor Court, if it’s not along the main hallway?
2. Is there another entrance besides the back entrance?
In the front. There are usually two entrances. Each with its own gift shop. Condor Court is located near the front entrance. It is outside.
Wait so there’s just a stellers sea eagle flying loose in Pittsburg? I feel like that’s a big deal, especially considering how large those animals are.Is there a 2021 thread for the National Aviary? I can’t seem to find one.
Anyway, the aviary’s Steller’s Sea Eagle, Kodiak, got loose on September 24. He is still missing, but zoo officials believe he is still in Pittsburgh and have requested any sightings be reported to the aviary at 412-323-7235. They request that people not approach him or make noise as he is scared and will fly away from unfamiliar people.
The aviary reports that there was a suspicious gap in the heavy gauge wire that had not been there before and they suspect that’s how he got out.
