The best zoos

Yes I enjoyed st Louis as well . Free admission makes it even better .
I lived in St. Louis some years ago, loved the zoo, and a return trip a few years ago revealed that it's even better and yes, it's free.

At the time I lived there it was open every day and my little tradition was to go New Year's morning. It was like having my own private zoo.

Sorry, I see I've posted something like this elsewhere on this thread.

I also mention the Santa Barbara and Haifa zoos, neither attempting to be a comprehensive zoo but both small and interesting, real jewels. Santa Barbara overlooks the ocean and Haifa's is on top of Mt. Carmel and has a beautiful view of the city and the sea.

of the ones I have visited (regular zoos only, no aquariums or animal theme parks):
National Zoo DC because it is my home zoo, free, and has very high quality exhibits
Philadelphia Zoo because of the exhibit quality and the Zoo360 thing

Have you been to the San Diego Safari Park? I know you haven't been to the San Diego Zoo so i doubt you've been to the Safari park.
I haven’t been to San Diego zoo safari park but I did a lot of research about the park, I watched multiple YouTube tours, saw thousands of photos, saw it one google maps :) etc. It looked amazing

I have to go with the San Diego Safari Park. Its collection isn't as speciose as the SDZ, but it's still great and even better in some categories, like for hoofed mammals by far. The field habitats are great for herding and flocking animals and even more solitary ones, and a lot of the aviaries and other village exhibits are enjoyable, too.
