Any Zoos you plan on visiting next year?

The museum at toledo is set to open may 31st
 
Dierenrijk and Wuppertal might be back on the agenda for early July and I'm looking for a couple more first timers in that area too. However, I might just revisit one or two from a couple of years ago. Gelsenkirchen, as much as I loved it, I was exhausted that day after driving overnight after a day at Wingham. Burgers, because I didn't enjoy my visit there much, partly due to the heavy fog that lingered into the afternoon and it was a weekend and packed.
However, being a sucker for newborns, I could be drawn anywhere in that region :)
 
Unfortunately I am going to have to substantially cut down on my zoo plans for 2019.

I messed up once more today and this time I did it with something pretty essential. It shouldn't have happened and I'm still very upset with myself about it and questioning how I could let this happen. As a result I've been forced to decide to ban myself from visiting zoos for the next two months.

That means I will loose much of the Spring season for visiting zoos and that I will not be going to a zoo again until late June, when I have a planned visit to Planckendael with a members' preview of the new bonobo building and a planned visit to Burgers' Zoo with some old friends.

As a result I have decided to scrap my plans for one or two German zoo visits this year and to be far less ambitious with my goals for the Netherlands. At the moment I'm only still really hoping for a revisit to GaiaZoo once the flamingos have arrived, revisits to Zoo Parc Overloon and Rotterdam Zoo/Blijdorp and a first visit to Best Zoo. I am also still planning to revisit the Olmense Zoo here in Belgium.

Also given that I have been so low on energy lately, partially due to it not being easy times at work, I just cannot afford to make much plans as they won't work out anyway and only lead to frustration and even less energy.

I am currently of the opinion that these are the two 'key' zoo destinations in Asia. There are many other zoos in Asia that a zoo nerd would love to visit, but for those with the means to do so I would suggest a lifetime of visiting zoos is not complete without these two cites.

Calvert Marine Museum

Ones I plan on visiting later this year:
New York Aquarium
Bronx Zoo (possibly)
Toronto Zoo (possibly)
Lehigh Valley Zoo (possibly)
Capron Park Zoo (possibly)
Stone Zoo (possibly)
 
So my trips to Potter Park and Knoxville actually worked out. Now I've got possible trips to Cincinnati, the Newport Aquarium, and Detroit in the works for the summer and fall.

Plus a visit to Singapore Zoo can easily be tied in with a visit to the Singapore Zoo Night Safari. Very few city zoos have a sister zoo in such close proximity.

In addition; the majority of visitor activities marketed to tourists are during the day, so visiting the Singapore Zoo Night Safari doesn’t compete with other (daytime) attractions, which may otherwise take precedence.
 
Firm plans for July and Prague Zoo and Plzen Zoo. Would like to go bts at Plzen if possible, can I just contact the zoo and ask?

Then for September, Zoo La Boissiere du Dore, Planets Sauvage and finally the spectacular that is Puy du Fou!

Would love to hear your impressions of Plzen Zoo- they list incredible diversity of mammals birds and herps. Surprising to me that they aren't a better known zoo.

The bus is booked, and we're heading to Plzen Zoo on Tuesday. We won't get the opportunity to go behind the scenes but we're really looking forward to visiting the collection. Will let you know what I think after the visit.
 
One friend from Germany is visiting me and we will go to a number of Eastern Canada locations :

Parc Safari (Hemmingford)
Zoo de Granby
Aquarium du Québec (Quebec City)

Should keep us busy! ;)

I'm honestly a little taken aback :o can't recall the last time I heard of someone's request being turned down.

Other than Prague I'd be willing to bet Plzen is the city with the most name-recognition for the general public, given the existence and popularity of Pilsner lager.....
