Visited the zoo today, still just as phenomenal as my first visit. Zoo Miami is excellent and i absolutely love the place, and it’s currently my third favorite zoo I have visited. I have a few updates regarding the zoo.
A pack of dholes are now on exhibit in the former sloth bear yard. I only saw one sleeping by the gate to the indoor holdings, the rest were inside.
The Sloth Bear was moved to an exhibit adjacent to the orangutans. I am unaware of what was there previously.
The wombats are also now on exhibit in the new (renovated?) Australian Center. There is a burrow space in the yard that guests can look into from above, which is a nice touch.
I did like the Australian Center quite a bit. It simultaneously breaks and follows the pattern of most Australian exhibits. There is no walkthrough kangaroo and/or wallaby yard and not everything is over-themed to hell like most others. At the same time, koalas in an all indoor glass box? Check. A barren parrot walkthrough aviary? Check. I still enjoyed how stylized it was and how well it was put together. I will upload some photos in a few days once I return from my trip.
