Paignton Zoo Cuban Croc at Paignton ???

Hi guys, I finally got round to up loading these photos from Paignton. The first one is definately a Cuban croc. The remainder are of a croc which was labelled as Cuban, but to me it looks more like an American croc, or possibly a Cuban/American hybrid. It's head is a different shape, longer, with a bump in front of the eyes like an American croc ( noticeable in IMG 7024). It's also a lot lighter colour on the head than the rest of the body, but the body is the same colour as a Cuban. Can anybody help with this? What do you guys think?

i don't know very much about crocodilians and their features so can not comment on this but i'm pretty sure that paignton only have pure-bred cubans. Having said that, i think they were confiscated so this one could be a cross.

Have to say I agree with you. Second one defintely looks different in colouration and has narrower snout like the American crocodile.

I am told that the 2 Skansen bred females from Eastern Europe may in fact be hybrids with C. acutus ...

I will check with my croc friend though ...!

Thanks Jelle,

I would be very interested if your friend can supply the history of these crocs.
I'm going to email Paignton to see what they say.

Have you had a reply from Paignton yet as i think you may well be right about them been Hybrids after looking at my photos again, also dug out photos of pure Cuban and American Crocs from my collection of photos and they do appear to have traits of both species in them.
