First visit to New York (Brooklyn), Help!?!

As an actual local, I can give an overview of each institution but since you seem to be completed by now there's really no point.

No all recommendations still greatly appreciated! My brother isn’t coming over to the UK until Christmas then we will decide then!

OK. So the Bronx Zoo is a really good zoo, a lot of different animals from all clades. You should really try and get the premium tickets so you can get into the premium exhibits.

The Central Park Zoo is a nice little zoo, worth it if you're in Manhattan, it has nice exhibitry and a decent variety of species.

The Prospect Park Zoo is good for more obscure and less popular animals, though I would recommend mixing it with the New York Aquarium on a zoo day.

The Queens Zoo is my least favorite zoo, though it's still a good zoo. It's based off of the Americas, so if you like animals from those regions you should check it out.

The NY Aquarium is pitifully small for the city it is in, but it's still worth checking out, especially with the new exhibit.

There are a few zoos and other places on the peripheral, the largest being the Turtleback Zoo, which is a great zoo with a variety of animals, the Maritime Aquarium, a quirky aquarium with a diverse range of species, as well as the Beardsley Zoo, which I have not visited but looks like a place worth checking out.

How is the Staten Island Zoo? Their reptile exhibit with its multiple rattlesnake species looks interesting.

I was pleasantly surprised by Staten Island. I haven't been since the new aquarium section opened but everything that I did see what really good. The all indoor African wing is probably the poorest section of the zoo, but with the Leopards now outdoors in a great new enclosure there aren't really any major flaws to it anymore. The reptile wing is pretty great, and the variety of venomous snakes probably the best east of the Mississippi.
