Zoos you feel need a revamp.

In this thread you may list zoos (and zoo exhibits) That you feel would need a revamp.
Please explain your reasoning in why you think the need to be modified a little bit, and have fun chatting!

ZooAmerica I really feel needs a revamp. A lot of their exhibits are small and old (especially the otter exhibit) and one of the keepers said that they even wanted a new otter exhibit.

Metro Richmond Zoo as well. A lot of their exhibits are cramped and aging (However they are renovating and have new exhibits planned).

Elmwood Park Zoo needs a revamp, but they already have a lot of renovations and new exhibits planned.
 
Every zoo I have visited in India needs a revamp. At least one group of animals has always been compromised, be it the birds, the primates or the 'nocturnal house' animals, and even some of the better exhibits could do with major improvements. The educational aspect is also pathetic, with sign boards some times not even giving the correct name of the animal, they don't conduct proper keeper talks or anything like that. They don't even have proper restaurants with edible food inside the zoo...

That's a shame. You definitely need to visit some better zoos someday. Are the collections of your home zoos At least ok? That's something. A lot of zoos in India have quite a bit of species that aren't as common in the U.S.

Indian zoos have Indian animals. Full stop.

Just kidding, we do have many exotic species, but these are somewhat repetetive, if one zoo has them, many others might. As for visiting better zoos, hopefully one day I will get to visit a better zoo, like Singapore or maybe even one in the US or Europe...
 
All though this is not a popular opinion I believe the Philadelphia Zoo needs a revamp. Nothing major maybe just clearing out a lot of green space, updating a few exhibits, and expanding the zoo itself for some new habitats. I believe the zoo is currently doing some of this.

It has a great collection and some exhibits are good (Sri-Lankan leopards, Iberian lynxes, Walldrapps, Dorcas gazelles+Ostriches+Guineafowl...) But then, you have tiny exhibits like the hippos, with a ridiculously small pond, and cement floor (Similar to the old hippo exhibit in Barcelona). Tiny exhibits for Arabian oryxes, Vicuñas European bison, Asian lions, Barbary sheep,... Bird/Small primates do ok (Chimpanzees have a decent but not really good exhibit), but most carnivores get the bottom of the bin. Birds of prey aviaries are way too small too.

I like ZBJ but it has a lot of improvement to do.

I've been to the Philadelphia zoo once, and I thought the exhibits were really balanced. Some were just fine, well others looked really bad. I especially didn't like a lot of the primate indoor enclosures. They looked old and reminded me of the Primates/cats/Aquatics building at the Cleveland metro parks zoo. It had a great collection, Like Red capped mangabeys and the since passed away Red-shanked douc langur(I was lucky to see it). The zoo also has aye ayes, Previously black-footed cats, pygmy slow loris, and many other interesting rarities.

Even though the PECO primate reserve has subpar exhibits I often find myself enjoying it. Whenever I’ve gone the animals have been extremely active, which often plays into how you think of an exhibit. I also had the pleasure of seeing the baby White Handed Gibbon twice.
The baby Gibbon is half the reason to visit the house in my opinion.

I believe I am talking about the Rare animal conservation center's exhibits, not the Primate reserve.
 
I feel that most older zoos definitely are due for some renovations, and I think most know it. Out of zoos I have visited in the past few years, here are the parts in need of revamp-

Capron- Nocturnal, Sadler, Otter and Bear buildings, kangaroo exhibit
Buttonwood- Elephant and Bear exhibits
Roger Williams- North America
Franklin- just about the whole zoo
St. Louis- Historic Hill, Red Rocks
National- Small Mammal and Primate buildings
ZooAmerica- all outdoor exhibits
