This is a list of species on show at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre (25/6/18).

I recall the wombat was already there in my last visit (an outdoor enclosure). I think the quoll used to be in an indoor enclosure, which must have been replaced with another species (possibly the second platypus tank or another reptile species).
Also, I seem to also remember a possum /glider species present during my last visit , however my memory could be playing tricks on me.
 
That's right. I forgot about that stand-alone enclosure in the kangaroo area. Sad to hear so many species have disappeared from this place. I really enjoyed this facility and the wildlife centre in Ipswich during my visit to Brisbane.

I am very fond of Ipswich Nature Centre, especially the walk through aviary (it was also my first ever zoo:)). When did you visit?
I agree, there was a notable lack of diversity at Walkabout Creek, in comparsion to my prior visit.
 
Quite a few years back o use to visit nearly every week. It had one of the most amazing collections of small nocturnal marsupials i have ever seen. All exhibited in an interisting way. The bird aviary was also well stocked with at least 40 different apecies.the fish and rrptiles were also great. It was rhe best display of aust fauna that i have ever. Now it is notbing.

I visited Walkabout Creek this morning and the place hasn’t changed much since I wrote out the species list above.
However, these were a few points I noticed:
- The centre now has Major Skinks on display in an enclosure with a Eastern Bearded Dragon. They make a nice addition to the reptile collection.
- An emu is now in with the macropods.
-They seem to be down to one Whiptail Wallaby.
- A Saw-shelled Turtle was in with one of their Platypus. I have never seen Platypus mixed with anything besides its own livefood.
- Spangled Perch are now in with the Jungle Perch, turtles and crocodiles.
 
There use to be a snake necked turtle in with the platypus at David Fleay Wildlife Park. I think it’s a good idea mixing platypus with turtles because when the platypus hide (as they often do) visitors aren’t treated with just a giant empty tank.

A few notes from my visit a couple of days ago:
-There is now a Great Barred Frog (Mixophyes fasciolatus) on display in a small tank in the reception area.
-The enclosure which formerly housed Central Bearded Dragon now has a Brown Tree Snake (Boiga irregularis). A nice addition.
-The Macquarie River turtles from the crocodile tank have moved into the enclosure with the Saw-shelled Turtle (which formerly housed platypus).
-Their electronic signage has been updated and now includes several of the fish species which were previously unsigned.
-For anyone interested, this is what their platypus's daily diet consists of - 400g of yabbies (small and large), 600g of earthworms, fly pupae and mealworms. This was mentioned during the short platypus talk.
