ZooParc de Beauval Zooparc de Beauval News 2020

If you're not keeping up with the Carnet du Bord videos on the zoo's YouTube page, I would recommend them.

Carnet de Bord dummy!

I find the zoo director to be an interesting fellow -- not many I've seen are willing to jump on a crocodilian along side their keepers.

I remember seeing a lot of ads for Beauval in Le Metro the last time I was through Paris, but didn't make the effort I should have. I will once this dome is finally opened.

Is anyone planning on visiting the zoo soon after the opening of the dome to get some pics?

I would, but I'm already obliged in the other direction. I probably won't be able to visit until 2021 at the earliest.

A few extra photos of the new Dome. Think a few of the shots show the Giant otter exhibit and it looks amazing! It also shows a photo of the douc langurs:

The douc langurs are a nice surprise. Since they've only been focusing on a couple of species in the Logbook videos, I haven't been sure what's all supposed to be exhibited.

I'm very much looking forward to the opening, and all that follows!

When it opens will all species be present ? I'm going in July and hope to see the harpy eagles and Douc langurs.

I am almost sure that all the animals for inside the dôme will be there during the opening. I expect that the animals for the outside enclosures (including the Harry eagles and Douc Langurs) won’t be there with the opening but will come shortly after the opening. I personaly expect them to be there with your visit (and mine too) in July.

Douc langurs shouldn't be here at the openning (even if half of their exhibit is inside).
Harpy eagles not quite sure, this depend on the work on their shelter because the aviary is only outside.
All of the other species seems to be already there (seen on their Carnets de bord, or on Zootiereliste).

I strongly recommand you to visit the park during the week, because weekends can be overcrowded ;)

A list with species I’m a 100% sure of that the are already in the dôme (I will add more species to this list when I know that they are present):

Species moved from other parts of the zoo:
1. Antillean manatee
2. Arrau river turtle
3. Arapaima
4. Pacu (these four all lived in the old basin and now live together in the dôme)
5. American alligator (including albino)
6. Aldabra giant tortoise (living with Rodriguez flying fox)
7. Scarlet ibis (free-living)
8. Nicobar pigeon (free-living)

Species who where behind the scenes but will come in show in the dôme:
1. Komodo dragon

New species:
1. Squirrel monkey (unknown species) (living with tamandua)
2. Tamandua (probabely southern tamandua) (living with squirrel monkey)
3. Giant otter
4. Sand fiddler crab
5. Axolotl
6. Western pygmy hippopotamus
7. Rodriguez flying fox (living with Aldabra giant tortoise)
8. Malagasy rainbow frog/Red rain frog
9. Emperor scorpion
10. False gharial
11. Tonkin bug-eyed frog
12. Roseate spoonbill (free-living)
13. Rhinocoris iracundus

If you have a species to add please comment.

Do you know when the Douc langurs should be here?

You forgot to add Lanthanotus borneensis on your list, which is a new species to the zoo, and a beautiful species only present in a few zoos in Europe.

I haven't any more informations on doucs. As mentionned by my french friend @Therabu, they should come from the Dusit Zoo, or at least from Thailand, but it's still unconfirmed yet.
