New pictures from my visit on December 26, 2018 have just been posted in the gallery.
Two weeks ago, an African ground hornbill named Najuma escaped his exhibit. Though the bird has yet to be recovered, there have fortunately been many sightings.

After a year of repairs, the Southern ground hornbill and marabou stork exhibits, along with the surrounding areas, have reopened. Unfortunately, one of the hornbills, Najuma, has yet to be found.

New cheetah (0.3) born 2018 had arrived from Smithsonian on a non breeding loan.

Lastly: it has also reapplied for AZA accreditation in the last few months of 2019.

Here is some really great news. Honolulu Zoo, which lost its AZA accreditation back in 2016, has regained its status as an AZA accredited zoo. Congrats!

Really great achievement as they have been lagging under the bus for the last few years. It seems the current director - herself born and bred Honolulan - and team have been able to get out of the dumps. Phew....
Linda Santos is an awesome woman, and its no surprise at all the zoo is flourishing under her command! She's truly what the zoo has been needing for a long time.
