The amur leopard Kitan has been moved from Bellewaerde (Belgium) to Blijdorp( The Netherlands) te be pairde with Vatne. It would be a genetically interesting couple although he has te recessive gene fot blindness and she for a black colored fur.

Two gilamonster are born, some Cuora mccordi too and some fishes: Cyprinodon longidorsalis, Zoogoneticus tequila.

As of now many things aren’t (publicly) known yet. However, it was explicitly pitched the pygmy hippo’s might get a spot next to the new gorilla enclosure. My sources state they do really wanna keep that species. No word on the rhino’s and bongo’s yet, but keep in mind the demolition of the old gorilla enclosure would mean a protected 1940’s stable would be able to converted into something else. Once the West Wing is cleared, it is likely some public facilities will be placed there, which would free up space at other locations (say, the current outdoor playground).

Felt obligated to also share our report from the presentation on the new plans which featured a few more details, such as the fact that the current enclosures for the black rhinos and pygmy hippo’s will be discontinued and that the birds of paradise may end up in the Victoria Serre: Masterplan 2030: de directeur vertelt verder…
Will the birds of paradise be a new addition to the park? Can't where they're housed if they are already there...

Not 8, but 4 years ago 4 young animals arrived from San Diego. Nowadays 2.1 remain, all behind the scenes and slowly reaching maturity.

Quite interesting is the potential addition of narrow-striped mongoose to the collection!
