They mean African and Asian lion are also the same species.

Another company in China is Haichang, which holds different "polar ocean kingdom" in different cities but with almost the same design.

I think it might be better to say they have the same design philosophy. The two I've visited were actually very different in lots of particulars, but the style is almost identical.
Having said that I haven't rushed to visit more partly because they do feel very samey, partly because of the price,and partly because the ambiance is so unbearably cheesy.
