What places in the USA keep...

I didn't think my question was worthy of its own thread, but I wasn't sure where to ask, so I decided to make a catch-all thread for anyone wondering about a species/group in USA (or North American) establishments. I've included links to all of the related threads that have been updated since Jan 2019, plus a few others, as well.

The animals I was wondering about: What places keep cavies, other than guinea pigs, capybara, and Patagonian mara? I'm particularly interested in Chacoan mara.

I'm currently working on a document for all Gibbon species in the United States. I'm also working on updating the Orangutan document and attempting to finish the Chimpanzee document. After that, I'd like to potentially try and make a list on either Colobus, Spider Monkeys, or Mandrills.

You've been doing a fantastic job creating those threads!

Thanks! It takes a long time to complete them. I couldn't do it alone, though. There are loads of people on here that supply me with lists they've already made.

(The worst part is when I forget to update them for a while, then it takes me forever to go through and fix everything!)

Worth noting many of the bird threads are not as comprehensive as several of the mammal ones, due to more difficulty in finding information.

Also there are a couple new bird threads under construction bts. ;)

I'm struggling to find information on gibbons, so I can imagine how hard it must be to find information on birds.

I figured as much, but it's still probably better for someone to ask about those species in those threads vs here :) You guys do great work with the bird threads, I know they can be really difficult with places not putting out species lists or signage, moving birds around easily, etc.!

I have enough problems with my own personal lists, and I definitely understand the trouble that comes with not updating things often ;)

Ha, you've no idea! Ratites, parrots, and cranes are pretty easy to find. Passerines, herons, ducks, oddball groups, and most others are pretty tough! We do our best off the get go and then get as best additional and updates as we can from you guys! :)

I can't even imagine doing ducks, I've mostly given up trying to just find signs in zoos IDing species :p

Yeah, that's probably the most incomplete one of the current lists so far, since like everybody keeps some but few zoos actually list them on their website! :p

Off the top of my head I remember seeing (presumably Patagonian) mara at Out Of Africa in Arizona. San Diego Zoo has capybara, as do two zoos in my city of Tucson: Reid Park Zoo and Tucson Petting Zoo & Funny Foot Farm.

I'll try and send you a PM with lists from signs from smaller places in my area.

I am currently doing an okapi population thread in North America. If there's no problem,in a few days, I could post it.

Great! There was one before, with a map, but it hasn't been updated in a while so I didn't want to include it.

I'm looking for species other than those ;) They're both really common in roadside zoos and even good zoos around here, they're easy keepers and very easy/cheap to purchase from exotic dealers. I love both, especially the mara, which is why I want to see some of the less common species.

Look on facebook

It would be good if you could provide a direct link, which saves everybody else scrolling past dozens of irrelevant pictures.

I only found this picture:
Tucson Petting Zoo & Funny Foot Farm

Which clearly shows a Patagonian Cavy (and a Capybara).

EDIT: ok, there is a picture with a Chacoan Mara on their facebook:Tucson Petting Zoo & Funny Foot Farm

Again, next time share such a link immediately, it is your job to ensure you post correct info, not the job of the rest of the forum to check whether you are right.
