National Zoo and Aquarium National Zoo and Aquarium News 2020

Does anyone know any recent news at the National Zoo and Aquarium?

Their biggest news is the recent revelation that they imported a male Sri Lankan leopard last year to pair with their female, Yakalla.

Ankesh was born 13/08/2016 at the Santillana Zoo and arrived at the National Zoo 11/09/2019.

Ankesh and Yakalla are the first pair of Sri Lankan leopards in the Australasian region, so this is huge news. All going well with introductions, we could potentially see cubs within the next 12 months.:D

The National Zoo and Aquarium has announced the arrival of 0.1 Giraffe, Skye from Australia Zoo. She was the first giraffe to be born at Australia Zoo back in 2013 and arrived in Canberra back in March. Skye will be a female companion for their male Hummer (who has lived by himself for quite a while). I’m glad she has finally moved to a new zoo and it must have been quite the challenge to transport a fully-grown giraffe.
