That is certainly an underestimate of the mammal diversity.
The problem is how do you define grassland, many savanna landscapes have trees, which often form bushy patches and it matters whether those are counted or not for example. Overall you will find that there are hundreds of mammal species, 1000+ bird species and countless more species living in all African grasslands.
