Zoo Wroclaw Wroclaw zoo news 2020

Zoo received pair of Twelve-wired bird of paradise. Birds are now behind the scenes waiting for the end of Bird House renovation. As I wrote earlier Hammerhead bats find new place at Congo section of Afrykarium. Soon turacos and Congo peafowl will join them.

That is a really nice addition!
 
Manat was born on May 23. Mother is female from Singapore (it's her first baby), father is one of the Danish twins. Mother perfectly looks after the newborn. It's probably male.

Madagascar flying foxes are now behind the scenes. Soon they should replace Lyle's Flying foxes in Madagascan House. Afaik they are not from private collection but from rescue or rehabilitation centre.

That is interesting news. Are the animal houses open again after the COVID-19 closure?

They are indeed from a private collection, as a matter of fact - the same one that originally got the ball rolling with the European population of antsangy!

On 1th of July, part of animal houses is open again - Madagaskar, Apes, Monkeys and Sahara. Still closed is bird house, reptile house, butterfly house. The zoo has visitors numbers up again to usual levels.

Thanks, I was thinking of visiting Poland in August, but will wait a bit wih planning if so many houses, especially Reptile house, are still closed...
 
Almost all animal houses are open. Afrykarium, Terrarium and Aquarium are available since zoo reopening (only butterfly garden in terrarium is closed). Monkey, Madagascan and Sahara houses are open since 1st of July. Elephant and Rhino houses are still closed. Bird house is closed because is being rebuilt, it should be ready late autumn.
