This is really interesting & I wonder if other zoos will use their ‘conditions’ such as closed playgrounds & indoor viewing as a template? I found the members only days & pre-booked time slots very interesting!

Does Jersey have exactly the same lockdown rules as elsewhere in UK? I'm never sure of their exact status, as they do make at least some of their own rules. For example, its the reason why captive Choughs could be released there to form a new population, whereas it wasn't allowed in Cornwall.

Jersey is not part of the UK. They have their own parliament and are autonomous in most things except defence and foreign affairs. They toast the Queen as “The Queen, The Duke of Normandy”. They were never part of the EU.

Jersey will open to all visitors on 25 May. Conditions of entry are here:
Jersey Zoo reopens

What does it mean 'please do not stay at the zoo longer than the permitted time outside your household'? Do they have a different ruling on this than the UK where you can now take an all- day trip to the seaside anywhere in the country as long as you go home the same night...?

Vague notifications seem to be the hallmark of CoVid relaxation measures locally and regionally. That is certainly in retrospect a "disease" common to the UK (and elsewhere the same mistakes are being repeated over and over again), I believe that is indicative of something called lack of leadership and real decision-making (hence being part of that cohort infers you are friend of ... and way off being part of any solution of the issues at hand). It has become rather annoying to continue being confronted with this (and I can unfortunately also speak of personal experiences in this).

There have certainly been plenty of mixed messages from government in relation to all this...we now have 'stay at home as much as you can' coupled with 'go out for exercise as often as you like'...

However this instruction seems quite precise and doesn't seem to reflect the unlimited time period now permitted for travel elsewhere in UK, as long as it is only on a day-basis.

Four hours per day, apparently.

Looks like it - the differences between the UK and its 'Crown Dependencies' have been highlighted elsewhere here.

If Jersey residents are only allowed out for four hours(see above) I suppose being such a small island nowhere is more than half an hour or so from the zoo, even by public transport, so they can have around a three hour visit to the zoo within that time frame- that's if they are sticking rigidly to it of course....

Yes, probably - and maybe the small size of the island (or cultural differences in their population?) allows then to police the half-hour arrival slots too? Could see that being chaotic here with masses of complaints from people who arrived late and missed their slot...

Is this just for Jersey?

Yeah, the different CI authorities are setting their own rules (they are separate dependencies).

mmm. So in Jersey you can now visit the zoo but only during the limited period you can be outside your house. Over here you can be outside as long as you like, but not visit a zoo...

Yuuup - garden centres, private ticketed fishing lakes/attractions, various outdoor sports venues, public parks, private parks, council parks, seaside resorts, national parks, council tips - but not the very outdoor places which can control numbers via secure entrances/exits and did so before the lock-down. UK zoos are the same as indoor closed venues like museums and play-barns - according to the 50 page Government dossier. Looks as though the UK lobbing for zoos (as opposed to those above) has been pretty weak, or ignored - or both...

I see on Facebook that Jersey is opening its glamping site from 12 June for Jersey residents.
