ZTL says that Terra Natura holds white-tipped doves, perhaps the only ones in Europe. The zoo is one of 3 ZTL zoos with the keeled slug-eating snake, the Mexican black-tailed and Tamualipan rock rattlesnake and the green vine snake and one of 5 with the rococo toad and the sambar.
Birth News:
Three Axis (Axis axis) fawn have been born at TerraNatura! With the birth of two males and a female, the axis population at the park has extended to more than 30 individuals (With a small bachelors herd living alongside the elephants and the breeding herd living in the gaur, nilgai, and yak paddock).
New species:
TerraNatura will be the new home of decommissioned individuals of Jameson's mamba (Dendroaspis jamesoni), Wetar island tree viper (Trimeresurus insularis) and Tri-colored hognose snake (Xenodon pulcher). The animals were decommissioned by Madridean authorities and the MITECO decided to move the animals to a center that specializes in these kinds of animals. The animals are already on-show and can be see in the reptile house of the Pangea area.
New incorporation:
Male Indian rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis) Jaffna has arrived to TerraNatura Benidorm! The animal arrived from the Basel zoo with the intention of becoming the breeding male of the park's rhino group.
With his arrival, the park is now home to four individuals; Shiwa, Nisha, Duna, and Jaffna.
Jaffna has the track record of nine different calves in different institutions, so we hope to see a precious rhino calf over at TerraNatura soon or later!
