Leafy Sea Dragons

15-20 years ago in the U.S. aquariums appeared to have Weedy and Leafy Sea Dragons in about equal amounts. But in the past 5 years or so when traveling Asia and a small handful of American aquariums it appears that Leafys have become rarer in the US and are mostly absent in Asia, and that the once-ubiquitous Weedys are being treated as some kind of rare treasure. Surprisingly there were no Leafys at all in Japan, which is fond of importing exotic fish. Was there a change in Australian legislation that led to this?

Also, has anyone kept the Ruby Sea Dragon?

The difference will be that Weedy Sea Dragons are being CB nowadays, and the Leafy not.

Both can be breed in human care, but it is too complicated for an average aquarium. This is a perfect illustration to the recent thread:

I started imagining an aquarium which has several connected off-show and on-show breeding tanks, rather than a typical wall with a line of identical-sized tanks.

There is a single breeding facility of Leafys in South Australia that made millions supplying all aquariums of the world with this fish. I don’t remember its name, though,
