Score update. Howletts currently have a comfortable lead with just over half the vote. Their large wooded paddock has proved to be the most popular. The rest of the votes are spread out amongst various other collections with Paignton in second with another larger/wooded enclosure. In general I would agree with what has been said previously that there are some really poor enclosures for this species within the UK.
Wouldn’t it be great, though not necessarily practical, if a UK collection did attempt a forest clearing themed exhibit mixed with Bongo, Congo Buffalo and primates?

There’s probably only 2/3 UK collections that have the budget and/or space to pull it off though. What primates would consider?

I'm not entirely sure, but Congo buffalos are the same species as Cape buffalos, so are still quite aggressive. I really wouldn't want to be a Mandrill or Drill in their company. I think perhaps some species of guenon would be more suitable as they generally spend more time in the trees and are quite agile. Still, even then, I wouldn't envy them...

Most of these species are aggressive to humans, not to other animals. Buffalo are generally placid animals if not disturbed. I think they would be very tolerant of a primate species, whatever it was. There might be other problems involved but I don't think it would be the tolerance levels.

Bioparc Valencia don't have Mandrills, and I believe the mix you are thinking of it of the Drills with the Pygmy hippos and Sitatungas ;)

Yes, although RRH are mixed with Congo Buffalo in a separate exhibit at Valencia too (albeit without primates) - this is a mix I'm surprised not to have seen replicated a great deal in the UK?

I think it would need a lot of space to prevent the area just becoming a mudbath. Perhaps somewhere like the Safari Parks or a zoo with large paddocks like Whipsnade could do it the most successfully.

I was thinking of Yorkshire Wildlife Park and clicked on the poll before remembering that they'd been replaced with Visayan Warty Pig. If I was to vote again, I would have voted for Chester.
