Good breeding result! After the first DeBrazza monkey this year was born in Feb. in March a second young was born. The group at Overloon now counts 7 animals.
Good breeding result!
I was here a year+ ago and they seemed to hold 3 at the time (including one juvenile). A second new female arrived or did they already have more than just a breeding pair?
You might want to report the mallard chicks for the Dutch mallard count (the species has been in heavy decline in recent years, think of why and how if you will ...)!Last weekend I visited Oveloon for the first time in many years. Most the new enclosures (lions, tigers, giraffes, fossas, lemurs, penguins) are excellent and I thouroughly enjoyed my day there. The troop of 7 DeBrazza's guenons tumbling around in the trees was an absolute highlight.
Besides the young DeBrazza's guenons I also noticed a young collared pecari, three ring-tailed lemurs, a whole bunch of capibara young and multiple juvenile/subadult red kangaroos. The park was also filled with moorhen, coot and mallard chicks, even though they're not part of the zoo's collection!
