Does anyone know which subspecies of leopard is held at Singapore zoo?
Thanks lintworm..and the orangutan species?Sri Lankan Leopard.

So are the Sumatrans and Borneans kept together?Sumatran and Bornean, as well as a couple of hybrids. I'm not sure if the Zoo has conducted any genetic studies on their orangutans to determine if any are Tapanuli.

Only non-breeding individuals of both species are allowed to socialise, such as groups of females and juveniles.
Has the renovation of the elephant complex at the zoo started yet?
CNA has informed me that S'pore Zoo has reopened while the PAP is fighting a General Election.
How'd it go? Are zoo staff enforcing masks and social distancing rules? Have all parks reopened or just the zoo?
Oh and has PM Lee's magic cup returned?
Hasn't the exhibit been under refurbishment since Inuka passed on? (Also I read somewhere on ZooChat that penguins would be incorporated in this plan, is that still the case?)Building works for the new sealion exhibit (remodelling of the former polar bear exhibit) will start later this year.

The polar bear enclosure has sat empty since Inuka died. The wolverine and raccoon dogs remained on display until recently; they are currently off show and I don't know what will become of them (likely to be exported). The whole Frozen Tundra exhibit is now closed and awaiting regulatory approval for building works to commence.
The new coastal habitat will house the Californian sealions, African penguins and pelicans.
The Zoo, Bird Park and River Safari have reopened. Night Safari will open later when the social distancing procedures are worked out. Masks must be worn when in public in Singapore, so yes it is a requirement to have one on when visiting the parks. Social distancing is a bit harder to enforce but all shows and keeper talks are suspended at the parks to prevent crowds forming.
I see you know of PM Lee's magic cup! Sadly the cup hasn't been seen for a while.
Two Electric Blue Geckos (Lygodactylus williamsi) hatched at Reptopia. These are critically endangered little geckos from Africa, in serious threat of disappearing from their tiny natural range. Singapore Zoo received the species in 2017 and has been breeding them ever since.
Yes, there are two new yards being built right now: one for Radiated Tortoises and one for Asian Brown Tortoises.WRS's reptile collection has really come of age these past few years. The amphibian collection needs to catch up
By the way, I noticed a new outdoor enclosure at Reptopia (adjacent to the crocodile monitor enclosure) that is almost completed. I presume it is for tortoises or box turtles?
